Little Miss Ari is small in size, but has a HUGE personality and knows what she wants! To be honest, I was initially shocked to know this soon-to-be three-year-old was in love with Hocus Pocus, a movie I’m sure many of us grew up watching. But make no mistake, she can sing all the songs and remembers all the characters! She wanted a Hocus Pocus “witch” party. As her auntie who am I to deny her dreams? She got her party – with a twist!
As we know, COVID-19 has halted the plans of a traditional party, so we opted for a surprisingly fun drive-by car parade. When I designed this setup, I wanted to highlight the fun and whimsical elements of both Halloween and the film. It started off with a cute and colorful scheme of various shades of purple and orange, to stay away from everything spooky, black and scary. The goal was to keep the party simple but still make a big impact from her point-of-view! The key to achieving this was materialized with the bold marquee letters.
Instead of a full dessert spread, I decided to have the cake serve as the centerpiece, and Paul’s Pastry nailed it with the theme and the sweet strawberry-flavored taste! To still bring in the Halloween spirit, we handed out bags full of candy and trinkets.
As the car parade began to roll, we blasted the infamous song, “I Put a Spell on You” and if you were close enough you could hear her singing along!
One of my greatest joys is being the auntie to these four beautiful girls! With them living over 1000 miles from me, I’m unable to be physically present for every moment. I was so elated to make it this time and enjoyed celebrating her with the help of some creative vendors in Mississippi.
I SMELL CHILDREN!
